The "Aktionsgemeinschaft Brennerbahn - Comunità d’Azione Ferrovia del Brennero" (Brenner Railway Action Group) was founded in 1991 by the Free State of Bavaria, the Region of Tyrol, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Autonomous Province of Verona as well as by the respective chambers of commerce. The main objectives are the rapid extension of the existing railway line and the creation of a new, efficient rail link between Munich and Verona, taking into account the problems of the environment and the local population.
